A: You may use the Salon Locator service to find your closest salon. Currently there are over 25,000 stylists in our Salon Locator database. You can also find our products at your local JCPenny Hair Salons. Please call to ensure they have your desired product in stock.

Q: I do not live in the United States, how can I buy your products?
A: At this time, we do not ship internationally, but plan to provide this service in the near future.

Q: Do all the salons listed in your Salon Locator also sell your retail line of products?
A: Some of the salons listed in our Salon Locator only use the professional line of products. Conversely, there are some salons listed that only sell our retail line of products. Please call to confirm that the services or retail products are provided.

Q: What forms of payment do you take for online orders?
A: At this time we only process VISA, American Express and MasterCard credit cards and bank debit cards. We apologize, but we do not process gift cards or pre-paid bank cards..

A: You can track your shipment by using the tracking number you receive via the shipping confirmation.

Q: How long will it take for my order to arrive?
A: The delivery method you choose will determine the length of time it will take the shipment to reach its final destination once it is shipped from our warehouse. You will receive a tracking number via e-mail confirming that your order has been shipped. All products are shipped from Decatur, Georgia.

Becoming A Design Essentials Distributor

As with any sales position, self-motivation and people skills are an asset. Servicing salons with Design Essentials products is done on a bi-weekly basis for effective distribution and service to your customers. Q: What are the responsibilities of a McBride Research Laboratories Distributor?
A: A distributor of McBride Research Laboratories products is responsible, first and foremost, for serving the licensed cosmetologists in his or her area. Of course, this includes visiting salons on a regular basis and marketing McBride Research Laboratories products. However, McBride Research Laboratories distributors are also responsible for the following:

Leading a local team of sales reps and McBride Research Laboratories Educators to meet the needs of their customers
Managing the finances of their businesses properly
Ordering and managing local product inventory
Holding educational workshops and events as warranted in their markets
Marketing their businesses locally
Communicating market conditions to home office so the customers’ needs can be met more effectively
And countless other tasks required to truly be the professional stylist’s Partner In Style.

Q: What are the key qualifications to become a distributor for McBride Research Laboratories?
A: A successful distributor candidate will possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He or she will not have the skill set of simply a “salesperson” but an owner / operator of a distribution business. Given all of the responsibilities listed above, distributor candidates must possess the following:

Demonstrated successful business experience
Demonstrated successful sales experience
A passion for helping customers run successful businesses.

Q: Do I need to have previous experience in the hair care industry to become a distributor?
A: Prior experience in the hair care industry is not required to become a distributor with McBride Research Laboratories, but it is certainly a plus. McBride Research Laboratories is committed to giving each of its distributors the product and business knowledge to operate an excellent distribution business that serves its customers well.

Q: Can I work as a distributor for McBride Research Laboratories part-time?
A: No. Given the size of the responsibility and the opportunity, a successful candidate must be willing to work as a distributor on a full time basis. No candidate who intends to work part-time will be considered.

Q: Are there any other requirements for a potential distributor?
A: Upon becoming a distributor with McBride Research Laboratories, there are resources that must be in place to ensure success.

Initial investment – Approximately $15,000. To be able to carry the entire McBride Research Laboratories product line, a potential distributor must be able to make an initial investment of at least $10,000 in product. In addition, the distributor will have to have at least $5,000 in working capital to cover business expenses during the ramp up phase of the business.
Storage Facility – A potential distributor will need to secure a storage facility at least 10’ x 20’ in size in which to store product.
Delivery Vehicle – A potential distributor will need to secure a vehicle (most likely a cargo van) large enough to carry the entire line of McBride Research Laboratories products and serve salon customers.
Technology Requirements– A potential distributor must have a Windows compatible PC computer and high speed internet access in order to interface with McBride Research Laboratories internal systems.

Q: How Does McBride Research Laboratories train its distributors?
A: Each new distributor upon being awarded the distributorship in his/her area will benefit from intensive training held both at our corporate offices and in the field.

Q: There is already a distributor in my area. Can I distribute in this area, as well?
A: No. MRL grants its distributors the right to distribute Design Essentials products exclusively in their distribution areas. In return, we expect the same level of exclusivity. Design Essentials distributors are not permitted to market competitive hair care products.

A: If you home area does not have a Design Essentials distributor and it is not listed above, this may mean that your area does not have enough demand for our products to support a full-time distributor company.
